New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs was absent from the team’s voluntary organized activity on Wednesday, following a social media video of him flashing an unidentified substance on a boat with three women. Coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged the incident and stated that he has been in communication with Diggs.
The 31-year-old Diggs signed a three-year $69 million contract in March, despite being recovering from a torn ACL sustained last season. Vrabel expressed confidence that Diggs will be ready to play when he returns, but did not provide further details about the team’s expectations for him.
Diggs is expected to compete with fellow receivers Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas for playing time, while rookie Kyle Williams looks set to secure a spot in the depth chart. The Patriots are counting on Diggs to elevate their receiving corps, which struggled last season.
