A landmark study finds that introducing peanut products to young babies has prevented more than 60,000 kids from developing life-threatening peanut allergies. The guidance, first issued in 2015, advised parents to start feeding their infants as early as 4 months with peanut products. Since then, peanut allergy cases in children aged 0-3 have declined by 27%, and 40% for those aged 0-6 years. While this trend offers promising results, the study’s findings do not necessarily mean a decrease in overall food allergies, which remain at around 8% in US children.
