Pebble Watches Make a Comeback with Upgraded Battery Life

The iconic Pebble Watch is making a comeback, with two new models, the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2, set to launch soon. The devices boast improved battery life, with some watches lasting up to 30 days on a single charge.

Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky revealed that the new watches are like remastered versions of classic Pebbles from the early 2010s. They feature familiar designs and can run 10,000 older watch faces, making them compatible with existing apps and ideas developed over the years.

The Core 2 Duo, priced at $149, has a simple black-and-white display, step and sleep tracking, and dedicated buttons, similar to its predecessor. In contrast, the Core Time 2, priced at $225, boasts a larger color display, optical heart rate monitoring, and a touchscreen interface.

While these new Pebbles lack true swim water resistance, they are designed for everyday wear and will pair with phone apps to provide notifications and access classic watch faces. With their return, Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky is excited to revive his personal project, which comes at an interesting time for the smartwatch market.

The Apple Watch has become increasingly predictable, while many other smartwatches follow a similar path. The new Pebbles fill a gap in the market by offering basic fitness tracking, app support, and funky watch faces without the complexity of modern smartwatches.
