Pedro Pascal is in talks to star as the lead in Todd Haynes’ drama “De Noche”, with production plans restarting after being shut down last year. If Pascal signs on, he would play a corrupt cop opposite Danny Ramirez’s younger lover as they flee 1930s Los Angeles for Mexico.
The project had previously been attached to Joaquin Phoenix, but he dropped out days before filming was set to begin in Guadalajara. Despite the setback, Haynes remains optimistic about reviving the film and has expressed hope that it could be resurrected in a different form in the future.
Pascal is one of several high-profile projects lined up for him this year, including Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and A24’s “Materialists”. His role as Reed Richards in Marvel’s “Avengers: Doomsday” and his return as the Mandalorian are also upcoming.
Note: The question “why not cast a gay actor?” is not included in the article as it seems to be a separate inquiry, not related to the main content of the news about Pedro Pascal and Todd Haynes’ project.
