Pegula Edges Swiatek in Thrilling Grass Court Final

Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek finished their Wimbledon preparations with a bang, as the American star claimed her third title of 2025 on grass. In the Bad Homburg final, Pegula outperformed Swiatek in three sets, winning 6-4, 7-5.

Swiatek, considered one of the best grass-court players, had a smoother ride to the final but ultimately lost to Pegula’s powerful game. Despite the loss, Swiatek expressed her admiration for Pegula and their upcoming rivalry, saying “I’m happy that I could play here, I’m happy that I could prove that” on grass.

Pegula, who has now won titles on all three surfaces, acknowledged Swiatek’s skills on grass but urged her to “cut herself some slack.” The American will head to Wimbledon full of confidence, having accomplished a feat no other WTA player can match in 2025. Pegula will face Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto in her opening match at Wimbledon on July 1.

With this win, Pegula solidified her position as one of the top players in the world, and her victory over Swiatek marks an exciting start to their rivalry.
