Penguins’ Bunting Out After Car Accident, Malkin Listed on IR

Pittsburgh Penguins winger Michael Bunting will miss Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay due to a car accident outside PPG Paints Arena. Coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that Bunting and all parties involved were ‘OK,’ but the incident has ruled him out. Fellow forward Phil Tomasino is expected to return, as he was activated off injured reserve on Sunday afternoon.

Bunting had scored 13 goals in 43 games this season, ranking third on the team. Tomasino will replace him in the lineup. In a corresponding roster move, Evgeni Malkin was placed on injured reserve with an unspecified ailment, which has kept him out of three straight games.

Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is set to start Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay. The Lightning are expected to counter with Jonas Johansson in net. This will be their 10th meeting this season, with Jarry looking to improve on his 6-3-1 record against the team.
