Penn State Pass Rusher Abdul Carter Faces Surgery Decision

Abdul Carter, a top NFL draft pick contender, has experienced a stress reaction in his right foot, according to tests revealed on Wednesday. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, stated that Carter will need to decide soon whether to undergo surgery.

Carter faces two options: preemptive surgery or bypassing the procedure and showcasing his abilities at Penn State’s pro day on March 28. After consulting with doctors, a decision is expected this week.

Rosenhaus believes that either outcome won’t impact Carter’s draft status, saying “worst-case scenario, we don’t expect this to impact where he is drafted.” Despite missing the recent combine due to a previous shoulder injury, Carter made his case for being picked No. 1 in April’s draft, stating he feels like the best player in the country.

ESPN analysts rank Carter as the top prospect, with Mel Kiper Jr., Matt Miller, and Jordan Reid all placing him at the top of their latest rankings.
