Penn State Seals Dominant Performance at NCAA Wrestling Championships

Penn State wrestlers have secured their fourth consecutive Division I men’s wrestling championship, and the Nittany Lions are now poised for their 12th title in 14 years under coach Cael Sanderson. On Friday, all 10 of Penn State wrestlers earned All-American status, a record shared only with Minnesota’s 2001 squad.

The team is currently leading with 135.5 points, ahead of Nebraska (101.5) and Oklahoma State (91). One of the Penn State finalists, Carter Starocci, is in contention for an unprecedented fifth national title at 184 pounds, where he will face Northern Iowa’s Parker Keckeisen.

Other top performers include Mitchell Mesenbrink, who reached the 165 final, and Josh Barr, who defeated Michigan’s Jesse Cardenas to advance. Nebraska is solidly in second place after a dominant performance on Friday, with Brock Hardy set to face Ohio State’s Jesse Mendez in the 141-pound final.

Oklahoma State has put up an impressive showing under first-year coach David Taylor, with three wrestlers making it to the finals. Iowa and Minnesota round out the top four teams with significant contributions from standout wrestlers Gable Steveson and Parker Keckeisen.
