Pennsylvania Confirms First Deer with Chronic Wasting Disease

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has announced that two adult male deer in Luzerne County have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). The infected deer, located approximately 40 miles from a previously confirmed CWD case, were found on a farm. As a result, the farm will be quarantined for the next five years to prevent the spread of the fatal disease. Notably, there is currently no evidence suggesting that CWD can be transmitted to humans or other species under natural conditions.
