Pfizer COVID Jab Linked to Eye Damage, Vision Loss

Scientists have discovered a potential link between Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine and eye damage, including vision loss. A study in Turkey examined 64 people who received both doses of the vaccine and found that it led to changes in their corneas, which could increase the risk of eye conditions like corneal edema, bullous keratopathy, or corneal decompensation.

The researchers measured changes in the cornea’s inner layer, called the endothelium, before taking the first dose and two months after receiving the second. They found that taking both doses of the vaccine led to thicker corneas, fewer endothelial cells, and more variation in size of these specialized cells.

While the small changes may not affect vision immediately, they could lead to permanent damage if left untreated. Scientists are warning that people with pre-existing eye problems or those who have had a cornea transplant should be closely monitored for any signs of stress on their eyes.

The study’s findings have added to a growing list of concerns about COVID-19 vaccines, including rare side effects like myocarditis and pericarditis. The US FDA has expanded warning labels about these risks, particularly among young men.

Researchers emphasized that the vaccine is not recommended against vaccination, but long-term testing will be necessary to determine if these changes continue for months and years after taking the shots.
