The Philadelphia Phillies are set to host the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park on Monday, marking the start of a three-game series. The Phillies currently stand at 2-1 after their opening series against the Nationals in Washington D.C.
The team is coming off a successful 95-67 season that ended with an NLDS loss to the New York Mets. In their last home game, they secured a 54-27 record.
On Sunday, the Phillies took two of three games against the Nationals but fell short in the final game. Catcher J.T. Realmuto was injured after hitting himself on Saturday due to a bruised foot, while shortstop Trea Turner missed the previous two days with back spasms.
Manager Rob Thompson expressed hope that both Realmuto and Turner could return for Monday’s opener. Left-handed pitcher Christopher Sanchez will take the mound against Rockies right-hander German Marquez in South Philadelphia.
According to forecast, some rain showers are expected throughout the day but conditions should remain dry during the opening pitch at 3:05 p.m. Heavy rain and gusty winds may arrive later in the afternoon, around 6 p.m., with temperatures reaching mid-70s by nightfall.
