Apple had planned to release a cheaper, kid-friendly version of the Apple Watch SE with a plastic shell. However, the project has encountered significant challenges.
Designers are not satisfied with the look of the plastic design, while operations teams have struggled to make it affordable compared to the current aluminum chassis. The recent Power On newsletter revealed that the plastic Apple Watch SE is now “in serious jeopardy.”
