The PlayStation Network (PSN) went down for approximately 24 hours over the weekend, affecting thousands of users. Typically, video game service outages are short-lived, but Sony’s response was unexpected.
After a day of social media chatter and Reddit discussions, Sony issued a brief statement on Twitter, offering PS Plus members an additional five days of service and stating that the issue had been resolved. However, the cause of the outage remains unclear.
The outage resulted in some users losing access to both multiplayer and single-player games, highlighting the issues with game ownership. The incident also drew attention to Sony’s requirements for PC ports like Helldivers 2 and God of War: Ragnarok, which sparked a long-standing debate among PC players.
