PM Modi Meets 101-Year-Old Ex-IFS Officer in Kuwait

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a 101-year-old former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer in Kuwait after receiving a request from his granddaughter on social media platform X. The meeting took place ahead of Modi’s scheduled arrival in the country, where he is set to discuss trade, security, and regional ties.

The request was made by Mangal Sain Handa’s granddaughter, who asked her grandfather to meet PM Modi after becoming a fan of the prime minister. PM Modi responded to the message and agreed to meet the elderly man during his visit.

During the meeting, PM Modi also interacted with other members of the Indian diaspora in Kuwait. Mangal Sain Handa, the 101-year-old ex-IFS officer, reportedly thanked PM Modi for meeting him, saying it was an experience of a lifetime.

This marks the first visit to Kuwait by an Indian prime minister in 43 years, a gap last filled by Indira Gandhi in 1981. The country has a significant Indian diaspora population, with over 1 million people and 30% of the workforce being Indian workers.
