PM’s London Home Hit by Fires in Linked Arson Attacks

A 21-year-old Ukrainian builder has been charged with arson over fires at Sir Keir Starmer’s private home and two other properties in north London. Roman Lavrynovych, who lives in Sydenham, faces three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. The charges relate to incidents on the same street, including a car fire and another residential blaze that damaged the entrance.

Emergency services responded to a fire at the prime minister’s home in Kentish Town on May 12, causing damage but no injuries. Four days earlier, a car Sir Keir had sold was set alight on the same street. A second fire occurred at a house converted into flats in Islington on May 11, with one person helped to safety.

The investigation, led by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, has been linked to high-profile figures due to its connection to the prime minister. Sir Keir described the attacks as “an attack on all of us” and said they targeted democracy and values. The Conservative leader condemned the attacks as “completely unacceptable”.
