“Podcast Explores Future of Space Innovation”

The International Space Station National Laboratory has launched a new podcast, “Between a Rocket and a Hard Space,” to explore the future of space innovation. The series delves into discoveries, innovations, projects, and personalities shaping the next generation of space exploration.

Hosted by Patrick O’Neill, a public affairs and outreach lead for the ISS National Lab, the podcast features exclusive insights from scientists, engineers, and visionaries working in low Earth orbit to push technological boundaries. Episodes will also examine important decisions from space industry policymakers, venture capitalists, and educators influencing the evolving space economy.

O’Neill brings his expertise as chief communicator for every space station resupply mission featuring ISS National Lab-sponsored payloads since 2012. He will provide expert insights, drawing on years of collaboration with veteran innovators and scientists who have contributed to the ISS’s success.

The podcast’s first episode is now available, featuring an interview between O’Neill and ISS National Lab Chief Scientific Officer Michael Roberts. They discuss the pioneering science occurring on the ISS, including microgravity’s role in pharmaceutical research, regenerative medicine, revolutionary materials, and in-space manufacturing.
