Pokémon GO Celebrates 9 Years with New Artwork Teasing Paradox Pokémon

Pokémon GO is celebrating its 9th anniversary with new artwork that hints at the upcoming features in the game. The official GO X account shared exclusive illustrations created by character designer Yusuke Kozaki, which include a couple of big reveals.

One of the main announcements is the introduction of Paradox Pokémon, a new type of Pocket Monster that was introduced in Scarlet & Violet on Switch. These are usually past or future versions of Pokémon and include iconic designs such as Great Tusk and Iron Treads, the Ancient and Future version of Donphan. The artwork also features Gigantamax Butterfree, which has yet to appear in Pokémon GO.

Another teaser is the character with the thumbs-up icon in front of Metagross, sparking debate among fans about its possible connection to remote trading or emotes. Zygarde’s 50% form is also hinted at, possibly related to a new event focusing on Order Pokémon.

The game has undergone significant changes this year following Niantic Spatial’s sale of the gaming division to Scopely for $3.5 billion. The dev team assured that the sale won’t impact gameplay and will not include intrusive ads. They have also increased daily remote raids, which was reportedly in the works before the sale.

Fans are eagerly awaiting further information on these upcoming features during Pokémon Presents later this month.
