San Francisco-formed band Poolside has launched a fundraiser to help frontman Jeffrey Paradise rebuild after his Malibu home was lost in the devastating Palisades Fire. The fire, which started on Tuesday in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, spread quickly and destroyed thousands of structures, including Paradise’s home and recording studio.
“We are heartbroken to tell you all that the Palisades Fire in LA took everything from Poolside,” the band wrote on their GoFundMe page. “We’d like to ask that if you are able to, help support us in rebuilding our life.” The fundraiser aims to raise $50,000, with a $25 donation required to receive a complimentary white T-shirt with the phrase “Disco Never Dies” printed on it.
As of Friday morning, the campaign had raised over $13,250. Paradise shared a poignant message on Instagram, stating that he is struggling to come to terms with the loss, saying “It’s all gone… Every piece of gear, every guitar, every record I dug for years and years… It’s hard in the face of everything you ever worked for being literally up in smoke.”
The Palisades Fire has had a significant impact on the Los Angeles community, including celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Adam Brody, and Billy Crystal. Hollywood’s awards season has also been affected, with several ceremonies canceled due to the fire.
The Recording Academy and its MusiCares charity have pledged $1 million in support of musicians impacted by the fires, while actress Jamie Lee Curtis has announced plans to donate an additional $1 million from her family foundation to support fire relief efforts.
