Pope Francis has described the situation in Sudan as a “humanitarian catastrophe” and appealed for peace in war-torn areas around the world, including Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Myanmar.
In his Angelus address on Sunday, the Pope prayed for those affected by conflict and expressed gratitude to God for positive events, such as the agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. He called for constructive dialogue in South Sudan to alleviate suffering and urged all leaders to prioritize peace over differences.
The Pope also expressed concern about the devastating earthquake in Myanmar’s Mandalay region, which killed over 1,700 people and left many others missing. He appealed for an end to violence in Sudan, where innocent victims are being claimed daily.
Pope Francis concluded his address by praying for reconciliation in peace, calling on all parties to work towards a lasting solution to the crisis in Sudan.
