Pope Francis Admitted to Hospital with Respiratory Infection

Pope Francis has begun pharmacological treatment after being admitted to Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital due to a respiratory tract infection. The Holy Father, who has been suffering from bronchitis for several days, underwent specialist examinations and received hospital treatment.

According to the Holy See Press Office, Pope Francis’ clinical condition is stable with a slight fever. He remains calm and in good spirits, having read some newspapers during his conversation with journalists.

The Pope’s hospitalization led to the cancellation of several events planned for the upcoming Jubilee celebrations. The scheduled Jubilee Audience on February 15 and the Holy Mass for the Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture on February 16 have been postponed or rescheduled.

Pope Francis was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital after his morning audiences on Friday, following a diagnosis and several diagnostic tests. The Pope had previously announced that he would be holding his audiences at his residence in the Casa Santa Marta due to bronchitis.
