Pope Francis Continues Recovery with Slight Improvements

Pope Francis’ convalescence continues as he recovers at his residence in the Casa Santa Marta, following a hospitalization for a polymicrobial infection that resulted in bilateral pneumonia. According to the Holy See Press Office, the Pope’s condition remains stable and shows further slight improvements in respiratory, mobility, and voice-related areas.

The 83-year-old leader has been continuing his treatment, mobility, and respiratory physical therapy. While he uses high-flow oxygenation with nasal cannulas at night, an ordinary administration of oxygen is sufficient during the day. The Press Office notes that Pope Francis is in good spirits and continues working on various documents and speaking by phone as necessary.

The Pope has also been engaging in daily Mass concelebrations from his small chapel and maintains regular calls to the Holy Family parish in Gaza. However, it’s too early to determine his participation in Holy Week liturgies, with no official announcements expected before Friday’s next briefing on April 11.

In a surprise appearance earlier this week, Pope Francis briefly appeared on stage during Mass for the Jubilee of the Sick and Healthcare Workers, greeting pilgrims and wishing them a good Sunday. This marked his first public outing since leaving hospital.
