Pope Francis is set to be discharged from hospital on Sunday after spending over a month being treated for double pneumonia, the head of his care team announced.
Francis will leave the Gemelli hospital in stable condition, with a prescription for partial treatment and a two-month convalescence period. He will make his first public appearance outside the hospital before returning to his residence at Casa Santa Marta.
The pope’s recovery is progressing, with his voice improving but requiring more time. After discharge, Francis will continue therapy and physiotherapy.
Francis will lead the Angelus prayer on Sunday, offering a blessing and greeting to well-wishers. The news has sparked widespread relief among Catholic worshippers worldwide, who have been praying for the pope’s health since his hospitalization.
