Pope Francis Hospitalized With Respiratory Tract Infection

Pope Francis, 88, remains in hospital due to a respiratory tract infection after being admitted on Friday. The Vatican confirmed that the pope will not lead Sunday’s Angelus prayer but intends to send the text for publication.

The pope had been experiencing breathing difficulties and bronchitis, prompting him to cancel meetings for the next three days. He has visited hospitals several times in recent years and underwent abdominal surgery in 2023.

Pope Francis received Holy Eucharist on Saturday morning and spent time alternating between rest and prayer, expressing gratitude for well-wishes from the public.
