Pope Francis Urges Christians to Seek Healing and Peace During Lent

Pope Francis is encouraging Christians to continue their Lenten journey as a time for healing and faith in Jesus Christ. The 88-year-old pontiff released his Sunday Angelus message, which reflects on the parable of the merciful father with two sons recorded in St. Luke’s Gospel.

In his message, Pope Francis emphasized that God is always merciful towards all people and heals our wounds so we can love each other as brothers. He also stressed the importance of living Lent as a time of healing in the Jubilee Year of Hope.

The Holy Father expressed his gratitude to those who reflect the “image of the Savior” and work as instruments of healing through their prayers and actions. He concluded his message with petitions for peace in Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar, South Sudan, and Sudan.

Pope Francis is particularly concerned about the ongoing conflict in South Sudan and Sudan, and he called on the international community to work together to bring about peace in these two African nations. He also thanked God for the ratification of a border agreement between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, which he described as an “excellent diplomatic achievement.”

The Holy Father concluded his message with a prayer asking for the Blessed Virgin Mary’s help in bringing humanity to reconciliation in peace.
