Pope Leo XIV recently encouraged leaders of lay associations and charismatic movements to prioritize the Lord Jesus Christ in their journeys. The Holy Father emphasized that charisms are meant to serve this purpose, rather than being the primary focus.
The Pope distinguished between institutional groups and charismatic foundations, noting that both must be understood in relation to God’s grace. He also stressed the importance of unity and mission, calling on ecclesial associations to cooperate with the Pope and promote unity throughout the Church.
Pope Leo reminded his audience that charisms lead to an encounter with Christ and help build up the Church. He encouraged them to imitate Jesus’ selflessness and empty themselves for the sake of others, which he described as a source of freedom and great joy.
