The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for pork carnitas products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically pieces of metal. The affected products were produced between April 1-2, 2025, and are no longer available for sale.
The recalled products include 16-oz sleeved tray packages containing “Pork Carnitas SEASONED & SEARED PORK WITH JUICES SLOW COOKED WITH CITRUS” with specific “USE BY” dates. These items were shipped to Aldi supermarkets nationwide and bear the establishment number “Est. 46049”.
The problem was discovered during routine checks when equipment damage may have contaminated the carnitas products with metal pieces. Despite this, there have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption. Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to eat them and should dispose of or return them to the place of purchase.
Consumers can contact Cargill’s Consumer Hotline at 1-844-419-1574 for more information. The FSIS also offers a toll-free hotline (888-MPHotline) and an online complaint monitoring system for reporting food safety issues.
