Porsche Unveils Optimized 911 GT3 R and All-New 911 Cup for 2026 Season

Porsche has unveiled two significant updates to its racing lineup for the 2026 season. The first, the optimized 911 GT3 R, boasts enhanced performance, improved aerodynamics, and a range of advanced safety features.

The new 911 GT3 R is powered by a 382 kW (520 PS) naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine, delivering an increase in power while maintaining its service life at 100 hours of track time. The car also features a more robust four-disc sintered metal racing clutch and a sequential six-speed dog gearbox.

The braking system has been significantly upgraded with 380-millimetre discs, increased cooling channels for self-ventilation, and wider brake pads for improved deceleration. The Bosch M5 racing ABS now features enhanced data processing capabilities to interpret input from the new acceleration sensor.

In addition to these mechanical upgrades, Porsche has also focused on improving cockpit operations. The redesigned multifunction steering wheel features central rotary controls for adjusting ABS intervention and traction control, while the central control panel remains easily accessible for driver operation.

The 911 Cup, based on the 992.2-generation 911 GT3, is a new one-make cup car designed to deliver high performance and practicality. It boasts an adapted design with improved aerodynamics, a more robust engine producing 382 kW (520 PS), and a comprehensive suite of advanced safety features.

The 911 Cup’s braking system has been upgraded with larger cooling channels for self-ventilation, wider brake pads, and a new Bosch M5 racing ABS with enhanced data processing capabilities. The car also features an automatic engine restart function and a stroboscope on the brake lights to alert following drivers during the start phase.

Porsche Motorsport has once again partnered with Michelin to create a new generation of tyres for the 911 Cup, which was tested in real-world conditions at various tracks.
