The Powerball jackpot has surged to its highest amount of the year, reaching an estimated $605 million ahead of Monday night’s drawing. The pot grew after nobody won all six numbers from Saturday night’s drawing. The white balls were 23, 40, 49, 65 and 69, with the red Powerball being 23.
The jackpot was last won on May 31 in California, with a prize of $204.5 million. There have been 32 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner since then. Recently, 37 players matched all five white balls to win a $1 million prize, while nine people matched all five white balls and the Power Play option to win $2 million.
Players who win the jackpot can choose between receiving the money in annual installments or as a lump sum payment. The annuity option includes an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% every year. With odds of winning the jackpot at 1 in 292.2 million, players are hoping to strike it big this Monday night’s drawing.
