A blood pressure medicine with over 580,000 bottles recalled due to possible cancer-causing chemical.
The FDA has issued a nationwide recall of prazosine capsules from Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and Amerisource Health Services. The medication is used to relax blood vessels and help with sleep issues related to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, some lots may contain nitrosamine impurities that are considered potentially carcinogenic.
The affected medication is available in 1mg, 2mg, and 5mg doses. Drugmaker Teva Pharmaceuticals USA has not commented on the matter yet.
