A new movie took the top spot at the box office this Friday: “Predator: Badlands,” a sci-fi horror film that earned $15.6 million in just its opening weekend. The 9th installment of the “Predator” franchise has familiar elements, including high-tech hunting gear and series-faithful situations, which pleased hardcore fans.
The romantic drama “Regretting You” came in second, earning $2.22 million after a three-spot move from last week’s rankings. A biopic called “Sarah’s Oil,” about an 11-year-old girl who becomes one of the first black women millionaires, took third place with $1.7 million.
Other notable movies include supernatural horror film “Black Phone 2” ($1.5 million) and historical drama “Nuremberg” ($1.45 million), both debuting in their opening week.
