Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Visit Fire-Ravaged Pasadena Area

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a low-profile visit to the fire-damaged Pasadena area on January 10. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were escorted by Mayor Victor Gordo as they met with evacuees, people who lost their homes, and first-responders.

The couple visited the evacuation center at the Pasadena Convention Center, where many displaced residents are staying. They also caravanned to burn areas, where full neighborhoods had been destroyed, and to the Rose Bowl, where first-responders were setting up an emergency response hub.

At one point, Prince Harry surprised a bed-ridden elderly man with a donut, which he had found elsewhere in the center. The man expressed gratitude for the simple gesture, saying he needed “his carbs and his sugar.”

The visit was hastily organized but demonstrated humanity on both sides of the social divide. Mayor Gordo praised the couple’s efforts to serve food and greet first-responders. He emphasized that the tragedy brought out the best in people, with neighbors helping each other selflessly.

The mayor added that the message is clear: “We all have to bind together in this moment.” The visit highlights the need for community support during times of crisis.
