Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited an emergency evacuation center in California amidst the devastating wildfires affecting the Los Angeles area. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have been living in the state since 2020, used their time off to help with the relief effort.
At the Pasadena Convention Center, where they served food and delivered supplies, Prince Harry went out of his way to fulfill an elderly man’s special request. According to Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, the Duke was approached by an elderly man who asked for a donut, but since there were none available, Prince Harry offered to find one for him. Ten minutes later, he returned with a doughnut, bringing joy to the elderly man.
The royal couple also met with first responders, including L.A. County firefighters and police, and thanked them for their hard work. They donated essential supplies through their charitable Archewell Foundation and served meals with World Central Kitchen. Meghan has even postponed her upcoming show “With Love” on Netflix due to the wildfires, citing her concern for her hometown and those impacted by the blazes.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been actively supporting the relief efforts in California, including opening their own home to friends and loved ones forced to evacuate. The Eaton Fire, which they visited, is 33% contained, but fast-growing wildfires continue to threaten the region.
