Kate, the Princess of Wales, presented the winner’s trophy to Jannik Sinner after his victory over Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon. The princess, patron of the All England Club, handed out the trophy in a ceremony following Sinner’s 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win on Centre Court. This was Kate’s second consecutive day at Wimbledon, where she also attended the women’s final and met with former champions and celebrities.
The royal family, including Prince William and their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, watched the match from the Royal Box. After the final, Sinner had a lengthy conversation with Kate and her husband before signing tennis balls for the kids. In his post-match interview, Sinner praised the royal family’s enthusiasm for tennis, saying it makes the sport even more special to compete in front of fans who care deeply about it.
This is not Kate’s first Wimbledon appearance since undergoing cancer treatment; she also attended last year’s tournament, where Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic.
