Aeroflot, Russia’s largest airline, canceled over 50 round-trip flights after a pro-Ukrainian hacking group claimed responsibility for the cyberattack. The attack may be part of a broader campaign to disrupt normal life in Russia.
In recent months, Ukraine and its allies have targeted Russian airports with drones, causing flight disruptions, cancellations, and diversions. Aeroflot’s website and ticket refund function were also unavailable due to the hack, which left the airline’s information systems “completely destroyed.”
Russian authorities confirmed that the attack was a result of hacking and launched an investigation. The Kremlin described the situation as “worrying.” Analysts say the actions appear to be part of a planned campaign.
The hacking group Silent Crow claimed it worked with a Belarusian group, Cyber Partisans, to launch the attack. However, their statements could not be independently verified.
