Two Los Angeles County prosecutors have sued District Attorney Nathan Hochman, alleging he demoted them in retaliation for supporting former DA George Gascón’s request to reduce the prison sentences of the Menendez brothers. The prosecutors, Nancy Theberge and Brock Lunsford, claim they were punished after producing a memo last October backing Gascón’s request, which would have removed the “life without parole” element of their sentence.
Theberge also alleges age and gender discrimination. Her attorney, Justin Shegerian, says she followed the law and paid for it with her career. The move comes just weeks after Hochman reversed course on the resentencing request, a change made by Gascón before he left office.
