A 62-year-old woman was arrested during an anti-racism rally in Belfast city centre on Saturday. She was detained for wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “We are all Palestine Action”, which is associated with a proscribed organisation. The group, Palestine Action, became proscribed under the Terrorism Act in July due to concerns over its violent actions.
Two men were also cautioned for similar offences, and a 43-year-old man was arrested for disorderly behaviour. In London, 474 people were arrested during a demonstration in support of Palestine Action.
The decision to proscribe the group was made after activists broke into RAF Brize Norton, causing £7m worth of damage. The Home Office stated that the decision was based on “strong security advice” following serious attacks committed by the group.
