Protesters Oppose Elon Musk’s Influence in Trump Adminstration

Protesters have gathered outside Tesla showrooms nationwide to express their opposition to Elon Musk’s influence on the federal government under President Trump. The protests, part of a larger movement called “Tesla Takedown,” aim to stop what organizers describe as an “illegal coup” by Musk.

Musk’s advisory role has led to significant changes in the government, including cuts to diversity and inclusion programs and student loan initiatives. Protesters believe that this shift threatens democracy, impacts the middle class and minorities, and undermines future generations.

Those who participated in the protests cited concerns about Elon Musk’s erratic behavior and his influence on the president’s decisions. Many described themselves as “Anti-Trump” or “Pro-Democracy,” although some also expressed disillusionment with the Democratic Party.

The protesters were primarily white, retired individuals from public-funded jobs, such as teachers and social workers. They felt that the current administration is under siege and that Musk’s influence is a threat to democracy.

The protests are part of a larger movement that aims to influence people passing by, their neighbors, and those who are one degree removed. Organizer Gus Teschke described the camaraderie among protesters as positive, saying it was “a party out here.”

Over 200 protests were scheduled nationwide on Saturday, with some attendees expressing concerns about being silenced by billionaires in power. The movement is calling for action against Musk’s influence and what organizers describe as an “illegal coup.”
