Protesters Storm Office of Microsoft President Over Israel Allegations

Protesters affiliated with the group No Azure for Apartheid stormed the office of Microsoft President Brad Smith in Redmond, Washington, and left a court summons notice at his desk. The protesters delivered their demands that Microsoft cut ties with Israel and end its alleged genocide.

Smith stated that he was not concerned about two of the seven protesters who entered his office being current or former employees. However, if they had made threats, Smith said Microsoft would look into disciplinary action against them.

The protest is linked to allegations that Israel’s military used Microsoft’s software for surveillance, which The Guardian reported earlier this month. The company has authorized a third-party investigation into the claims and plans to provide technology in an ethical way.

Smith emphasized his respect for those killed by Hamas and hostages taken during the terrorist attack on Oct 7, 2023, as well as civilians who have died since the war in Gaza.
