Split Fiction is a brilliant co-op game that excels on all platforms, including the PS5 Pro, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Developed by Hazelight Studios, the team behind It Takes Two and A Way Out, this game offers sharp split-screen gameplay across multiple consoles.
What sets Split Fiction apart is its generous philosophy, allowing players to co-op together on different platforms, including online play. The game also features a pass system that lets friends play together even if they don’t own the same version. This level of accessibility is rare in the gaming industry.
While Unreal Engine 5 provides striking visuals, Hazelight opted for more traditional techniques to achieve polished results. Characters look good, lighting is handled via baked global illumination, and environments are smaller, allowing for smooth visuals without the typical UE5 issues.
Consoles received a native 4K experience on PS5 Pro, while PS5 and Series X hit 1800p internally at 60fps. The Xbox Series S trailed behind at 1080p but maintained perfect stability. PC performance was equally impressive, with max settings running smoothly on high-end hardware.
