Black Friday has come to a close in Europe, with EA Sports FC 26 claiming the top spot in terms of sales, followed closely by Hogwarts Legacy. The Harry Potter spin-off game saw a significant boost in sales, rising two places to No.2. Meanwhile, PS5 was the biggest driver of console sales, with revenue up 14% and unit sales up 7%.
The data from GSD shows that PS5 sales were particularly strong this year, with unit sales increasing by 16%. The console’s prices also dropped significantly during the Black Friday week, with some models seeing discounts of up to 34% lower than two weeks prior. This led to an average price of £340 for PS5, which is a rare occurrence.
Other notable findings from the data include Xbox Series S and.X taking 10% of the console market, while Nintendo Switch 2 took a 23% share, albeit with a lower sales figure due to its high price point. Accessories sales were down sharply by 17%, mainly due to reduced sales of gaming headsets and joypads.
VR headset sales saw some growth, particularly around the Meta Quest 3S, which enjoyed its best sales week since launch at a discounted price.
