Massive nationwide celebrations for Paris Saint-Germain’s historic Champions League victory took a tragic turn, resulting in two fan deaths and a police officer falling into a coma. The European football club won the tournament’s biggest prize with a 5-0 win over Inter Milan.
Violence broke out during the celebrations, leaving at least three people dead. A teenager was stabbed to death in Dax while another man died after being hit by a car scooter in Paris. A police officer suffered grave eye injuries from fireworks at a PSG gathering in Coutances and is now in an artificial coma.

The team is scheduled to return to Paris for a victory parade on the Champs-Élysées, where up to 110,000 fans will be allowed to attend. Thousands of police officers are deployed to keep order and prevent further violence.
Security measures have been implemented across central Paris, including tear gas and water cannons used to disperse rowdy crowds. The French Open has also been impacted by the security measures. In total, 294 arrests were made during the celebrations, including cases of looting and vandalism.
