PSG ‘Deserved More’ in Dominant but Frustrating Defeat by Liverpool

Paris St-Germain boss Luis Enrique insisted his team “deserved more” after a dominant performance against Liverpool in the Champions League, which ended in a frustrating defeat.

PSG dominated for 87 minutes, holding a record 27 shots on goal – the second-most in Champions League knockout matches since 2003-04. However, they were unable to capitalize and conceded just one goal to Alisson’s nine saves.

Enrique praised his team’s performance, saying they “created more chances” and played a complete game against Europe’s top sides. Despite being outplayed for the first five minutes, PSG took control of the match, with forwards Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele causing problems for Liverpool’s defense.

“I don’t think it’s too difficult to analyze tonight’s game,” Enrique said. “We were far superior to Liverpool. Football can be unfair at times.”

The defeat ended PSG’s 22-game unbeaten run and 10-game winning streak in all competitions. However, Enrique remains optimistic, saying his team can qualify for the next round if they replicate their performance.

“We’ve only played the first leg,” he said. “We’re a side with nothing to lose.”
