India’s PSLV-C59 rocket is set to launch the Proba-3 spacecraft into a highly elliptical orbit on December 02, 2024. The mission, undertaken by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), marks a commercial endeavor for the space agency. Proba-3 is an In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) project of the European Space Agency, aiming to demonstrate precise formation flying.
The spacecraft consists of two units: the Coronagraph Spacecraft (CSC) and the Occulter Spacecraft (OSC). They will be launched together in a stacked configuration. The launch will take place from the First Launch Pad (FLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR), Sriharikota.
