PUBG and inZoi Get AI Companions with Nvidia’s Tech

Krafton, the company behind popular games PUBG and inZoi, has announced it’s working with Nvidia to bring AI companions into its titles. These “Co-Playable Characters” (CPCs) will interact with gamers and understand game situations like humans do.

Using Nvidia’s Avatar Cloud Engine technology, CPCs can be instructed to coordinate with players. In PUBG, a new companion called “Ally” will communicate verbally and team up with the player. Players can converse with Ally as if they were a human teammate, enhancing gameplay.

In inZoi, citizens known as “Zois” will interact based on their “free will and life experiences.” These characters are powered by the same Small Language Model used for Ally.

Krafton has invested heavily in AI technology, joining companies like Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft, which have also made significant investments. This development aims to improve gameplay while addressing ethical concerns surrounding AI’s impact on jobs.
