Russian President Vladimir Putin’s investment envoy Kirill Dmitriev has expressed a “positive dynamic” in relations between Moscow and Washington, despite more meetings being needed to resolve differences. Dmitriev spoke with officials from the Trump administration after talks focused on rare metals production, Arctic cooperation, and even a crewed flight to Mars.
Dmitriev believes that the Trump administration is open to finding solutions, citing a “positive, creative attitude.” He mentioned potential diplomatic efforts to address the Ukraine war, noting that a long-term solution is necessary for global security. The envoy also highlighted U.S. companies’ interest in Russia and their desire to fill niches left by European companies.
Dmitriev’s visit follows talks in Saudi Arabia, which led to agreements on U.S.-brokered ceasefires against energy targets and navigation access in the Black Sea. He acknowledged that work is ongoing to restore direct air links between the two countries.
