Putin Threatens Revenge Over Ukraine Drone Attack

US President Donald Trump has warned that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is planning revenge for Ukraine’s recent drone attack on Russian airbases. The warning comes after a phone call between the two leaders, during which Putin said he will have to respond to the attack.

The attack occurred on June 1 and targeted Russian nuclear-capable long-range bombers. Ukrainian authorities claimed it was a surprise attack using smuggled drones. Trump told Putin that the US was not warned in advance of the attack.

Putin has accused Ukraine of trying to disrupt negotiations between Russia and the West, with his government describing Kyiv as “essentially turned into a terrorist organisation”. However, the two leaders also discussed potential cooperation on other issues, including Iran and nuclear non-proliferation.

Trump has previously expressed frustration with Putin’s actions in Ukraine, calling him “absolutely crazy” and saying he is “playing with fire”. The US is seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict, but it appears that Trump’s warning about Putin’s plans for revenge suggests that the situation remains tense.
