Qualcomm Unveils Next-Gen Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Chip with AI Upgrades

Qualcomm has announced its next-generation Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, which features improved AI capabilities alongside some smaller enhancements. This new chip is expected to power mid-range smartphones and will offer a 7% boost in GPU performance compared to the previous generation. The CPU also sees a 7% jump, reaching speeds of up to 2.7GHz.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is designed to support ultra-wide displays with 144Hz refresh rates and HDR10+ technology for a WFHD+ resolution, offering an alternative aspect ratio of 12:5. Additionally, the chip brings AI-powered features like Video Super Resolution, which improves low-quality footage, and the return of AI Remosaic, which removes grainy discoloration in shots.

The new platform also includes support for large language models (LLMs) and LVMs (Large Language Models), including Llama 1B, Qwen 1B, and more. While details on this integration are scarce, Qualcomm emphasizes that the AI Engine provides fast, private, and responsive generative AI at the user’s fingertips.

The first wave of handsets featuring the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip is expected to be announced throughout 2025, with potential manufacturers including Samsung and Motorola. However, it remains unclear when Nothing will release a new phone powered by this chip, as they have confirmed completion of their Nothing Phone 3 series.
