Researchers have discovered that even small exertions in daily life can significantly reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. A study analyzing data from over 24,000 adults found those who engaged in two hours of light activities a day had a reduced risk of cardiovascular issues, while those who moved at moderate pace for 24 minutes a day saw a 50% lower risk.

Engaging in incidental activity of vigorous intensity for just five minutes a day also showed significant benefits, with a 38% lower risk of serious heart events. The study suggests incorporating small bursts of physical activity into daily tasks, such as gardening or walking stairs, can provide meaningful health benefits without requiring gym time. While structured exercise is still superior, these findings support the idea that even moderate exertion can have a positive impact on overall health.
