R. Kelly Hospitalized Over Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot in NC Prison

R&B singer R. Kelly is in solitary confinement in a North Carolina prison after being hospitalized due to an apparent drug overdose, according to court documents filed by his lawyer. The 58-year-old woke up with black spots in his vision and was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he received treatment for blood clots.

However, his hospital stay was cut short when officers informed FCI Butner officials about the planned surgery, which would have kept him in the hospital for two weeks. Instead, federal officers arrived at his room within an hour and removed him.

Kelly’s lawyer, Beau Brindley, claims that prison staff had given him an overdose quantity of medication on June 12, which led to his hospitalization. Brindley also alleges that three Bureau of Prison officials were involved in a murder-for-hire plot to kill Kelly, who intends to expose the corruption underlying his federal prosecutions.

The Bureau of Prisons is not commenting on the matter due to “pending litigation.” Kelly’s lawyers have requested home detention, which has been rejected. The singer remains in solitary confinement, and his lawyer vows to take action to ensure that federal officers do not succeed in their alleged plot.
