R. Kelly’s Lawyer Seeks Trump Pardon Amid Claims of Corruption and Threats

R. Kelly’s lawyer has requested a pardon from President Donald Trump as the singer serves his 30-year prison sentence for racketeering and sex trafficking. Kelly’s attorney, Beau B. Brindley, stated that Trump is the only person who can “fight corruption” in public figure prosecutions.

Brindley claims R. Kelly fears he may be killed due to corrupt prosecution tactics. The lawyer alleges Kelly was thrown into solitary confinement immediately after his pardon request became public and has been denied phone calls to family members and access to commissary.

Kelly’s lawyers also claim prison officials attempted to plot his murder, citing an alleged murder-for-hire plot involving prison officials and an inmate. Brindley stated the only protection for Kelly is that “now the world is watching.”

This request comes after Trump recently pardoned reality TV couple Todd and Julie Chrisley and rapper NBA YoungBoy. R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2022 and 20 years in 2023, with concurrent sentences to be served consecutively.
